Abstract I visited Belize in February 2016 and had an incredible experience with the language diversity in this country. In the beginning, I stayed in a hostel where the locals taught me some Belizean Kriol. Moreover, I also spoke Spanish which was prevalent in the local market. Meanwhile, supermarkets and fast food restaurants were predominated by Cantonese Chinese migrants from Taishan in China, and I managed to talk with them in Cantonese and attended the launching ceremony of the All-China Federation of Overseas Taishanese. On the other hand, I unexpectedly encountered a Bangladeshi community and talked with them as they were my compatriots in Bengali. I was invited to join the ceremony of the International Mother Language Day with them on 21 February and met the mayor of Belize City who promoted the diversity of the city.
